Well, Marty – let me be the first to say that I’m pretty happy with the progress I’ve made this year. I’m looking at ways I can expand so I can do more of what I love to do for people. And, of course, there’s all the good stuff you and I are cooking up.
Right now I’m doing a wide variety of tasks for my clients. This include life and business coaching as well as several different business services that I offer. I customize what I do to fit what a client needs. Having such an interesting assortment of things to do makes my “work” challenging in a good way and enjoyable. I love all I’m doing and find it a lot of fun. I’m being offered new opportunities regularly so am excited about how my business is starting to really take off.
Each month I learn new things to further my growth as a person and my business. I’m currently studying some courses on my own as I have time, and also putting together a list of services that I offer. This week I’m also organizing my office to suit me better. All this plus my non-business things that I do keep me very busy and enjoying a wonderful, fulfilling life!
It’s very appropriate that you ask this question now! I feel like I’m just coming out of a long, dark tunnel into the light again. This year has been a real struggle for me with cash flow and getting clients. I’m nowhere near where I want to be in my business. I started Heart’s Write 2 1/2 years ago and thought I’d be much further ahead than I am. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me because all the hours I was putting in (averaging between 60 – 80 per week) were not bringing me results.
I started reading “Book Yourself Solid” by Michael Port and realized that I never really built a strong foundation for my business. I kinda sorta had an idea of who I wanted to work with but it wasn’t concrete. I did the exercises in the first chapter and defined my ideal client. I got rid of a “dud” client (as Michael calls them). That wasn’t enough to bring me clients but it was a good start.
The funny thing is on July 28 I decided to move out of the apartment I shared with my roommate and in with my partner. That day I picked up 3 ideal clients within 5 minutes! It’s almost like the Universe was waiting for me to make that decision before the results materialized.
So, although the year got off to a slow start, I strongly believe that it’s going to end with a bang and me being booked solid. Successful business and very happy love life. What could be better than that!
